Birthdays are my absolute favorite. I love all of the planning, prepping and decorating it takes to pull off the ultimate bash. This year for my son, Logans 11th birthday, we decided on a small celebration at his grandma's house. He is currently obsessed with dinosaurs, so thats the theme we ran with.
Cupcake cakes are amazing! Not only do they look super cute, but they are so much easier to deal with. No cutting up individual pieces, kids can just run up and crab a cupcake. Not only are they simpler but also much cheaper. We only paid $30 for 24 cupcakes. I found this idea online and got a local baker to make them. We did white and red velvet. They where delicious and a huge hit. I wasn't sure how many guests to expect so I got some a Dino cupcake kit from Oriental Trading and made a few extra.
One of my favorite pieces of decor is this treat stand which also came from Oriental Trading. I filled the cones with Bugles and made a place card that said Dino-Claws. The kids where amazed by these. We also had a place for the "Drinking-Hole" which included soda, juice and water.
Goody bags are always a hit with the kids, so we had a separate table just for the goodies. I let the kids just go over and grab what they wanted. Everything I used came from Oriental Trading. I got dinosaur cellophane bags filled with dino filled plastic eggs, small plastic dino cups, dinosaur lollipops and small containers of slime. We also had the dinosaur grabbers and masks.
It was a beautiful day outside and we wanted a couple games for the kids to keep busy. I got Pin The Tail on The Dino (Oriental Trading) which gave the kids alot of laughs. We also found this cute idea on Pinterest. It was pretty simple. Just draw a dino head on a big poster board and wrap up a cone party hat as the dino's horn, and get a few glow stick bracelets from the Dollar Tree. Let the kids take turns throwing the rings around the horn. We also made our own photo frame.
The Dinosaur inflatables where beautiful. All of the kids, and adults enjoyed taking pictures with them. I do believe they where the staple piece, decoration wise.
As you may have noticed from all of my birthday party posts, I do get the majority of our decorations and supplies from Oriental Trading. Not only are the prices unbelievable, but I also love that I can buy things in bulk. Make sure to browse some of our past parties like the Minecraft and Lego parties, plus many more.
