Couples Halloween Costume Ideas

It's party time!! Halloween has become my favorite Holiday over the years. Now that I have kids I get to enjoy helping them pick out their costumes and try to bribe them into doing a theme. That part gets trickier the older they get. We do a Halloween Party every year where the adults dress up with the kids. Last year my youngest son and his Nana dressed up as Mario while my oldest and I dressed as Luigi. The year before that we where all Indians and Batman and Robin another year. As they've gotten older it's gotten harder to stick with a theme because every one wants such different things.  I searched on Oriental Trading for days trying to find the perfect costumes. They have pretty much any theme you could imagine and amazing prices. We ended up going with a Super Hero theme since its something we could all agree on. You can check out what costumes my boys decided on Here

My husband decided he wanted to be Dead Pool. Him and my youngest son are huge fans of the movie. I was shocked at what great quality the costume is and how life like it is. He got a one size fits all and the fit is perfect. The possibilities were endless when it came to womens Super Hero costumes, but the one that caught my eye was Wonder Woman. Dead Pool and Wonder Woman are both pretty big characters right now so they where both great choices. I'm just hoping with the new Wonder Woman movie out this year that I don't see a lot of the same costumes. Check my post about the Flash costumes my boys chose Here

Oriental Trading has more than just costumes. You can find most any Holiday, event, party or even school needs at Oriental Trading. What is your favorite items to buy at Oriental Trading? Sound off in the comments below!!

My Town Pets App Review

My Town: Pets, now available. Joining the series of 18 games (and growing), Pets will allow children to have fun adopting animals, caring for them, taking them to the vet – everything they would do with real pets – which will present the opportunity to learn animal interaction and responsibility that can carry over into their real lives.  Creativity, empowerment and imagination all in one fun-filled app!

Created by an expert team of designers, engineers, programmers and artists, loved by kids and parents alike and endorsed by teachers and therapists, My Town is a safe, digital platform that gives children hours of open-ended play. In the My Town world – 104 locations, 50 characters and 5300+ objects and counting – kids ages 4-8 play and interact with a variety of things in places and with people they see, recognize and know in their real, everyday lives – their homes, communities, family, friends and neighbors.

An added bonus is connectivity of My Town games and with shared characters and places that can travel from one game to another --all part of the larger My Town family of apps.

"With no rules, no time limits and no restrictions on how to progress through the games – which are so user-friendly natural that no prompts or instructions are needed -  children are free to explore the My Town worlds all on their own," says Mark Tulchinski, co-creator and co-founder of My Town. "Our games tap into kids' innate sense of curiosity and  spark imaginations by offering them unlimited game options."

My Town: Pets has everything needed to take care of your pet. Play with cats, dogs, birds and hamsters. Imagine adopting your dog, dressing them and discovering all the hidden locations and hot spots. Walk your dog at the park's litter sand area, just don’t forget to clean up the poop. Wash your animals and if they get hurt take them to the vet. Discover all the locations and invent your own story with each game play.

My 6 year old son has been playing on the app since I downloaded it. I keep hearing him yell "awww what a cute pug". We have several puppies at home so it doesn't surprise me that he loves taking care of the pets. His favorite part is being able to bathe and groom all his pets. I feel like the practice helps kids get ready and learn how to care for real pets, and teach them the responsibility that comes along with it. Ever since he started playing this game he has been volunteering to feed the dog, take him out to potty and has even been helping bath him. The app is surprisingly easy to navigate making it possible for even the youngest kids to play all by themselves. We take the Ipad with us on long trips or just trips to the grocery store. They are able to play it for quite awhile without getting burned out like they do with some apps.

My Town: Pets and all the My Town apps are available for $2.99 each at:

Rosewill Home Products Making a Moms Life Simpler

With kids who each have very different palates it seems I spend a few hours a day in the kitchen. No matter what I plan to make for supper, someone always wants something different. This makes for a very tired and frustrated Momma.
Not only is there the aggrevation of the actual meal prep and cooking, but then I have to do the dishes (which is my least favorite thing to do might I add). It's time I could spend with my family, or getting the mountain of laundry done. But, every one has to eat so I don't have many options.

Geomatrix #HGG

The only thing better than finding a toy your kids absolutely love and will actually get use out of, is when that toy happens to be STEM approved. Geomatrix, The Magnetic Art of Building has become the newest toy to hit our household. Both boys, ages 6 and 10 years old spend hours at a time building with these. Whether they are making puppy dogs, trucks or just making silly things, it's always a great thing to see them being constructive and using their imaginations. Geomatrix won Best Toy for Kids in the constructive play category by ASTRA-2017. What a huge accomplishment, right? Geomatrix has made the top of my list for this years Holiday Gift Guide. I have found it to be an amazing gift idea for kids young or old. Something to get the whole family together and enjoying a family fun night.

Gov't Mule

Rock 'n' roll music has always been a reflection of the times, and the new Gov't Mule album, Revolution Come...Revolution Go, is no exception.
With Revolution Come....Revolution Go, which was released June 9 on Fantasy Records, the band again sets the tone for their legacy with its cleverly crafted songs, intelligent lyrical commentary, and downright incendiary playing. It's those traditions, combined with an observant eye on the present, that define their tenth full-length studio effort.
About the song "Revolution Come", Haynes explains, "It starts out as a swinging rock song, and then it goes into this blues shuffle that feels almost like a different composition altogether. It also has a jazz improv section, but ends up where it starts out. That's indicative of what the message is: going through all of these changes and winding up where you can.
Haynes goes on to say, "In many ways, the chemistry between the four of us is an extension of the chemistry that the original trio had. The approach we take to the music is the same uncompromising and adventurous approach, although it's inevitable that the music is going to throw in different directions. The common thread is the influences we chose and the way we play together., which harkens back to how important improvisation was in most of the music we all love. At the end of the day, we're friends. Making this music is satisfying in a way that;s completely different from any other project I've been a part of. That's what inspires all of us".

Back in 2009 I watched my very first concert. It was a band I hadn't heard of before. My husband and I where visiting family in Georgia and they had got tickets. The whole way to the concert they raved about how great this band Gov't Mule was.. And boy where they right. The atmosphere was insane. It was a nice summer day, in a huge field in the middle of Georgia. We where right up front and didn't have to brave the crowds. The music was absolutely amazing and to this day it's still one of my favorite concerts and one of my favorite bands. Thankfully next month they are coming to my neck of the woods.
On October 9 Gov't Mule will be having a concert at the Mountain Arts Center right here in Prestonsburg,Kentucky. For show times and ticket information visit the link below. I hope to see alot of you there.

Whiffer Sniffers

You know how each year it seems like there is the new "It" product or toy for kids? Right now it seems to be fidget spinners and Whiffer Sniffers. I'll be honest, up until this summer I had never heard of a Whiffer Sniffer. It wasn't until we where shopping for my 6 year olds book bag that he started talking about them. He said he had to have one for his back pack.

Dear Caring Adult

The following letter was created with the help of campers and caregivers at Experience Camps to better explain how they want to be supported in their school-year environments.
As our campers settle back into their school year routines, they often tell us that the kids and adults back home just don't "get it". We asked our campers what they want their teachers to know. This is what they told us... Please share with anyone who might be working with a grieving child this year!

Dear Caring Adult,
This year, you will be working with or caring for a grieving child. Children tell us that there are often well-meaning adults in their lives who don’t really understand what they’re going through, so this letter is intended to give you a small window into what they experience. Here are a few things to know about grieving children:
